The Boutique Markets Team - Portside Wharf

The Boutique Markets is owned and operated by 3 dedicated women who share a passion for the creative world, supporting small business, and the desire to infuse the community with a market that would provide a platform to share unique talent and a distinctive springboard for creative souls.

Originally founded by Leasl and Rachael, their inception strategy was driven by a desire to promote, exhibit and sell their own creations. In searching for the perfect forum, it soon became apparent that other design and craft retailers craved the existence of a market that promoted and cultivated emerging local talent.

On this desire alone, the market was begun in 2007, and it soon became apparent that with the support and interest of many retailers, and the general public, that the tiny seed had grown, and spread it's branches far and wide to support and nurture a larger and ever expanding creative community.

We are pleased to announce a new partner at Boutique Markets, Kerry Newitt, who joins us in the newly defined role in the role of Marketing Manager. Kerry's fusion into the boutique Markets team has meant the ability to provide Boutique Markets with a fresh approach as we enter into the exciting phase of our relationship with Portside Wharf . Together our combined knowledge and complimentary backgrounds unite in our pursuit of creating a premier Marketplace in Brisbane .

Leasl Lanigan - Retail Liaison Manager

Leasl started with Boutique Markets at its conception and brings a background that is varied and diverse from business beginnings. Leasl has spent her career nurturing children and families and focusing on early childhood education which is where her passion for helping others grows.

She is a Mum to two little treasures – Ben, 7 and Georgia, 5 and draws great inspiration from their willing and innocent spirit. It was after having children that Leasl saw the talent that emerged from the many amazing mothers that surrounded her every day. It is this talent that inspired her to help build the concept of the Boutique Markets to give them the environment to nurture their own small business ideas.

Leasl has the ability to initiate, nurture and grow relationships, hence her role as Retail Liaison Manager being the perfect opportunity to look after our invaluable partners; our retailers. Her communication style lends itself to making sure that our retailers are well looked after and that together we meet and deliver our mission.

Leasl 's role will include, but is not limited to:

  • Retailer coordination – including applications and invoicing
  • Retailer communication – changes to events, guidelines
  • Administration
  • Market day coordination – retailer placement

Rachael Zelensky - Online Services Manager

With her background in retail sales, and as a small business owner Rachael knows only too well the hurdles small businesses encounter everyday. Her determination to encourage, support and nurture small business's like her own is the core reason for co-founding the Boutique Market concept.

After living and travelling abroad, Rachael gave up her career in retail management to concentrate on persuing her dream of being a fulltime freelance artist. She has run a successful home based business for the last 7 years selling her commissioned artwork both at home and abroad to corporate and private clients. Rachael is also a published illustrator, a wife and busy mother to Riley, 4 and Ella, 7.

This past year Rachael has taken a step back from her own business to concentrate solely on the Boutique Markets. She loves the 'online' world, and has a fearless attitude when attempting all things new and exciting in this arena.

Rachael's role within the Boutique Markets team will include but is not limited to:

  • Website Management and update
  • Newsletter Production and Distribution

Kerry Newitt - Marketing Manager

Kerry joins the Boutique Markets team with a diverse background in a number of industries including Retail, Banking & Finance, HR & Recruitment and more recently in Business Development and Call Centre Management. From her varied background Kerry offers the Boutique Market team a significant contribution in the area of Marketing, Advertising and Public Relations.

Kerry has grown up in Brisbane and after a 6 year period in a Central Qld mining town, returned to “home” with her complete family, a husband and 3 small boys – Jack -5, Oscar – 3 and Jensen – 2. Whilst in Central Qld, Kerry was able to offer her skills to the community through volunteering with various organisations, in particular small business within the township. Her parents own their own small – medium business and so her passion, mindset and strong business focus for owner operators is ever present when liaising with customers and operators.

Kerry has a genuine interest in people, and enjoys being able to offer the best of herself to develop and grow relationships. From a business perspective, Kerry offers her skills to encourage, support and inspire small business owners to achieve their goals and in particular to retailers at the Boutique Markets Portside Wharf .
